Announcing the 2026 NH Soil Judging Contest! ~ from the Strafford County Conservation District
The Contest is free, and it is a great opportunity for a group of students from your school to learn about soils, spend time outdoors, and meet natural resources professionals. It is a one day event that includes a training session. It complements the NH Envirothon Competition and many students participate in both, but it’s not required. Students will learn how to describe the texture, structure, and features of the soil, and identify what land uses different soils are best suited to. Teams and individuals compete with each other by accurately describing four pits with different soil types. The 2026 Contest will be on October 1st in Madbury, NH.
