Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter (NSKS) provides food, shelter, and related services to vulnerable individuals and families in the Greater Nashua Region in a dignified and sustainable manner with the goal of helping clients on the path to economic security and stable housing. Our services include a soup kitchen and food pantry, an emergency shelter for families and individuals, assistance in seeking and retaining employment and housing, education and training, emergency financial assistance, and a wide range of other programs.
For more than 40 years, the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter has been providing emergency services to very low-income individuals and families in the Greater Nashua area. Over that time, we’ve developed a strong reputation for compassionate service that respects the dignity and aspirations for everyone involved in the provision of care, especially those receiving care, while remaining flexible to meet the changing needs of our communities.
SUMMARY
Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter is a dynamic non-profit dedicated to feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless and supporting the self-sufficiency of the most vulnerable in our community. Following a new strategic plan, NSKS is building an integrated, story-driven fundraising team. The Development Coordinator will serve as the heartbeat of our donor relations—balancing database precision with genuine appreciation. In this role, you will manage our data integrity while ensuring every supporter feels deeply valued. This is a full-time exempt position on-site in Nashua, NH.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities:
- Gift Processing & Acknowledgements: Accurately enter all donations, pledges, and event registrations into the CRM database, and prepare personalized thank-you letters that emphasize impact and storytelling.
- Data Migration & System Integration: Oversee the routine migration and reconciliation of data between external systems (such as our separate event platform) and our primary fundraising CRM, ensuring all donor and transaction records remain centralized and seamless.
- Financial Reconciliation Support: Partner with the finance team to support basic financial reconciliation workflows, ensuring database transaction batches align accurately with actual bank deposits.
- Board Stewardship Coordination: Identify key donors qualifying for leadership touchpoints and prepare background notes and pre-addressed materials for Board members to execute handwritten appreciation.
- Data Segmentation & Appeal Lists: Query, pull, and prepare segmented donor lists for direct mail and digital campaigns, ensuring targeted outreach is precise.
- Database Cleanliness & Integrity: Actively manage overall data hygiene by merging duplicate records, updating donor profiles, and tracking communication preferences.
- Donor Communications & Stewardship: Draft everyday business-level donor communications, partnering with the Communications Manager to align with organizational branding.
- Team Collaboration & Documentation: Assist the Director with meeting preparation, basic event data tracking, and maintaining clear workflow documentation to keep our cross-trained department running smoothly.

- Maintain donor confidentiality.
- Consistently meet deadlines and maintain accurate constituent records.
- Assist in maintaining NSKS’s reputation for excellence in the community and work to ensure positive relations between donors and NSKS. Understand, believe, and advocate for the mission of the NSKS.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all interactions with clients, coworkers, donors, volunteers, vendors, and all others. Share NSKS’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and a professional code of ethics.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, supervisory sessions, and accept responsibility for aiding in developing positive team relationships.
- Accurately track and report hours worked in a timely fashion using agency provided tools.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or other management as required.
EDUCATION , SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in an administrative, data-oriented, or communications role, preferably within a nonprofit development department.
- Database & Data Transfer Savvy: High level of proficiency with data entry, list segmentation, and database formatting. Experience with Raiser’s Edge is a strong plus. Comfort working with Excel to manipulate and transfer data between different platforms is highly required.
- Attention to Detail: An eagle eye for detail, numbers, and record accuracy is non-negotiable.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word mail merges and Excel.
- Communication & Writing: Strong basic writing skills with a genuine passion for storytelling and communicating nonprofit impact.
- Creative Tools: Experience with Canva and a comfortable working knowledge of social media platforms is a plus.
- Key Attributes: Excellent organizational skills, warm collaborative attitude, and a deep respect for donor and financial confidentiality.
