This workshop is part of UNH Extension's upcoming Foundations of Dairy Management Workshop Series.  Lunch is provided.

What to Expect 

This highly interactive workshop provides extensive hands-on practice using reproductive tract models and AI simulators to build confidence and skill in artificial insemination. Participants will also receive practical training in calving assistance, focusing on safe, effective methods that support both animal well‑being and producer safety. 

Designed for students, farm employees, producers, and dairy industry professionals, this workshop provides foundational skills for anyone looking to build competence and confidence in artificial insemination and reproductive management. 

What You’ll Learn 

  • Proper semen handling, thawing, and storage techniques 
  • Hands-on AI practice using simulators and reproductive tracts 
  • Key reproductive anatomy and physiology relevant to AI success 
  • Correct calving assistance techniques 
  • Safe and effective use of calf chains, straps, and calf jacks
