NH Gleans of Merrimack County

Strategic Planning Session & Lunch at Oscar Barn

Merrimack County Conservation District manages the local NH Gleans group. We are conducting a region-wide Strategic Planning Session and luncheon at Oscar Barn on June 10th in Hooksett, and are looking for ways to strengthen the program. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

In terms of this group, last year we definitely suffered from not having enough volunteers to glean from area farms and/ or deliver to pantries, senior centers, affordable housing complexes, school programs, soup kitchens, etc. We would love to have some of you on our list, if you are interested. One of our difficulties is that many of our gleans are very last minute and I think that frustrates volunteers but we never expect anyone to cancel plans to glean. But, if we had more people on our list, it would be easier to get food out of the field and delivered to people in need. We definitely left thousands of pounds of food in the field in the Kearsage area. One glean in Boscawen probably left tens of thousands of food in the field (corn).

Please check out www.nhgleans.org for more information about gleaning.

You can RSVP by replying to this email or fill out this form: https://form.jotform.com/261185733250151. Please forward this information to other parties that you think may be interested.  Can’t come?  Please send us your thoughts and suggestions for our program to include in our findings.
