"Stonewall Farm is on a roll! Not only do they have a new Executive Director (the wonderful, Rebecca Todd, hired last year), as well as many new staff members, the team has worked hard to broaden its farm to school offerings - especially in the public schools, and camps - including workshop day, after-school, and Saturday camps. And to assure that future generations will continue to enjoy the educational and recreational activities offered at the farm, the team launched a new, very affordable membership program designed to help underwrite farm operational expenses.

Many are familiar with Stonewall Farm's summer and vacation camps for children, organic CSA vegetable shares, festivals like Farm Fare or Oktoberfest, and venue space for weddings or special occasions.

What you may not be as familiar with is their farm-based programming inside the region's public school system here, and in Vermont and Massachusetts.

Starting in December 2022, Dave Hoffman, Stonewall Farm's Market Garden farmer and Sam Bator, Assistant Education Director, provided hands-on horticulture programming for the Horticulture program at Cheshire Career Center at Keene High School. They coordinated a Winter Wreath & Centerpiece Sale featuring wreaths and centerpieces made by students during the class. Students were responsible for all the marketing materials to promote the event.

Other programming Hoffman and Bator offered at the Cheshire Career Center included winter tree identification and learning about fruit and vegetable plant families. A field trip to Stonewall Farm enabled students to complete tasks in the greenhouses and learn how to conduct a tree sampling protocol. Since January, the educators provided curriculum support to students, mentored two, on-farm internships and oversaw Extended Learning Opportunities."
