Many people are generations removed form growing food for a living. They haven't had a farmer in their family in decades and don't understand some of the basic farming practices.
In New Hampshire in 1950, the ratio of farms to people was one farm for every 41 people (13,000 farms). Most people interacted with a farmer regularly. Today, with 4,100 farms, the ratio is one farm for every 330 people.
This makes it difficult for people to get to know farmers and the challenges they face, which can lead to misunderstandings or even conflict. READ MORE
