The Local Food Access Workgroup is open to individuals and organizations interested in collaborating to make local food accessible to people of all income levels across New Hampshire. The workgroup meets regularly to foster dialogue, build alignment around shared goals, and develop collaborative solutions, with a particular focus on advancing the recommendations outlined in the Nutrition Access and Security brief part of the NH Food and Agriculture Strategic Plan. This workgroup is supported by the NH Food Alliance and is directly connected to the NH Food Access Coalition (NHFAC), led by NH Hunger Solutions. While the NHFAC addresses nutrition access broadly, the Local Food Access Workgroup focuses specifically on improving access to local food through programs such as Double Up Food Bucks, Granite State Market Match, low-cost CSA programs, and other related initiatives.
This workgroup is led by:
- Tara Westenhiser, Food Access Coordinator, Bureau of Family Health and Nutrition, Division of Public Health, NH Department of Health and Human Services
- Brendan Cornwell, New Hampshire Nutrition Incentive Network Coordinator, New Hampshire Food Bank
- Xochi Salazar, Garden Education Manager, Kearsarge Food Hub
The Local Food Access workgroup is launching with it's first meeting on Wednesday, March 11 at 11am-12pm and will meet monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 11am-12pm. If you are interested in joining this workgroup, please fill out the form linked below.
