Recommendation: Increased school and youth garden programming in New Hampshire can provide opportunities to learn about growing food, eating and dietary choices, cooking, climate, food sovereignty and have other environmental and health benefits.

Current work happening on this recommendation:

  • Vital Communities's current work with Farm to School and Farm to Early Childhood Education supports schools and early care programs in designing, building, and growing food in school gardens, offering financial support and technical assistance throughout the process, in an attempt to lighten lifts on educators and increase school garden programming in the Upper Valley region. This work is ongoing; they offer technical assistance year round and are working to ensure continuous funding for school garden supplies for educators that they identify as high need, based on publicly available FRL data.
