The annual program will accept research project proposals from UNH faculty that will address a recommendation made in the Strategic Plan and move the food systems work in that area forward.

The UNH Food Fellowship program invites University of New Hampshire students, staff and faculty to roll up their sleeves and dig into the unanswered questions that will shape our state’s food and agriculture future. Guided by the New Hampshire Food and Agriculture Strategic Plan, we focus on the practical questions, big and small, that need fresh thinking, innovative research, and collaborative problem-solving.

You can select from our curated list of priority questions—or chart your own path by exploring the plan’s recommendations and identifying a topic that aligns with your expertise, curiosity, or passion. Whether your interest lies in farm viability, climate resilience, local food access, workforce development, or another key challenge, your work will contribute to actionable knowledge and real-world solutions for New Hampshire’s communities, farms, and food businesses.

Together, we’ll move from questions to insights, and from insights to impact.

If you’re already working on research that relates to the Strategic Plan and would like it noted as related work, you can fill out the Self-Identified Leadership Questionnaire. This same questionnaire is also the entry point for any outside of UNH who wants to get involved—whether that means contributing expertise, joining a project, or helping to lead future efforts.

The most compelling and closely related proposals will be submitted for funding consideration, with up to $10,000 available per selected project. These funds can be used for student stipends, travel, or materials. Funding cannot be used to cover faculty salary.
