The NH Food Alliance is beginning new efforts to engage University of New Hampshire students, staff, and faculty in the implementation of the New Hampshire Food and Agriculture Strategic Plan.
This work invites the UNH community to roll up their sleeves and dig into the unanswered questions that will shape our state’s food and agriculture future. Guided by the New Hampshire Food and Agriculture Strategic Plan, we focus on the practical questions, big and small, that need fresh thinking, innovative research, and collaborative problem-solving.
This year, we are exploring pilot opportunities to better understand how students can be meaningfully involved. These efforts include project-based work, such as with the EcoGastronomy capstone course, and partnership with the UNH Food Systems Lab. Through these early collaborations, we aim to test approaches for aligning coursework, research, and experiential learning with the real-world needs outlined in the Strategic Plan.
Looking ahead, the goal is to launch a more formalized program in 2026 that provides UNH students with ample opportunities to engage with New Hampshire’s food system and help shape its future. By creating pathways for applied learning and research, the program will move from questions to insights, and from insights to impact—strengthening both the university experience and the resilience of our state’s food and agriculture system.
