The Sustainability Institute was established in July 1997 and Tom is the founding Executive Director. The Institute acts as a convener and champion of sustainability principles and practices across the curriculum, operations, research, and engagement actions of UNH in the areas of climate and energy, biodiversity and ecosystems, food systems, and culture. Throughout his three decades of national and international work in higher education, Dr. Kelly has focused on sustainability as a transformative cultural force, and the creative process of engaging its disruptive and inspirational dynamics in education, research, and practice.
