Summary: The Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) is America’s flagship competitive grants program that provides funding for fundamental and applied research, education, and extension projects in the food and agricultural sciences. Funding is available for numerous priorities in six program areas. The Small and Medium-Sized Farms program area priority focuses on the development and/or adoption of new models to assist agricultural (farm, forest, or ranch) decision makers with strategies and technologies to enhance sustainability, economic efficiency, viability and competitiveness of small and medium-sized dairy, poultry, livestock, crop, forestry, aquaculture, and other operations.
